Looking through the window
Watching planes
Which will carry other people's dreams
Not Mine.
Yes, I haven't posted for a few days since I've been paying a short sightseeing visit to Amsterdam. This sketch I made while waiting for my light to be called in Cardiff Airport.
Experiences of an urban sketcher based in South Wales - does exactly what it says on the tin. All images in this blog are copyright, and may not be used or reproduced without my permission. Sunday 5th August - One Sketch #133) Bristol Airport
Yes, dear my friends, I am still in the land of the living, and I have still been sketching every day. I'm going to post the photographs of my sketches now, but I the photo quality isn't great, so I will probably scan them all when I get back in 10 days.
These first three were sketches that I made in Bristol Airport while waiting for the flight to Madrid last Sunday.
The febrile atmosphere mounts
As we sit and wait
To get on the plane
Where we will sit
And wait.

One Sketch #55) RAF 100 celebrations - Typhoon Eurofighter outside Cardiff City Hall
The grey bird sits
Inert but deadly
Waiting to make its way
Through hardship
To the stars.
In the South Wales Sketchers Chapter Facebook group yesterday Scott, one of the members, posted that today and tomorrow their are a number of historic RAF aircraft on display outside Cardiff City Hall, as part of the RAF centenary celebrations. Well, I am not the kind of sketcher to look a gifthorse like this in the mouth. I made several sketches, which you can see below. The only problem was that there was nowhere to sit so I had to sketch standing up, and the positions I wanted to stand in to sketch were right out in the open, so my neck is quite nastily sunburned. Never mind.
